2013 Annual

“Cooly Rocks On”

Grand street parade

The qld corvette club has entered this year’s “Cooly Rocks On” Grand Street Parade as we used to do when it was wintersun. We have been allocated 10 – 12 cars to take part in the parade which will take about 1¼ hours to complete. At the finish, cars can be dismantled (not literally) and left within the festival precinct while you enjoy the rest of the day.

To be a part of the parade you must notify john webro asap on 0439 683 117 or 07 5563 8575.

“Cooly Rocks On” is a 10 day rock & roll festival, where all of Coolangatta goes back to the 50’s & 60’s, with free Rock & Roll bands everywhere and 2000 plus Hot Rods, Cruiser’s, Muscle Cars, and Stalls etc, line the closed off main streets. Being in the parade lets you leave your car within the precinct, as parking will be hard to find. The crowd will be “BIG”. Spend the rest of the day enjoying the “Cooly Rocks On” festival.

WHEN: Saturday morning, the 8th June 2013.

WHERE: Meet at the set up point at the corner of Johnston St and Pacific Parade, Bilinga, at 6.30am, to prepare our cars. B.Y.O. drinks, as you could get thirsty.

Parade: moves off at around 9am.

All cars “must” be dressed up, ie flags, banners, balloons etc.

Our theme is “well known identities & their Vette’s”. So dress up from the waist up as a well known person, eg we are Darth Vadar, Phil is Mr Burns & Smither’s; Miller’s Egyptian; Chris is Elvis; Big “O”; Thelma & Louise; Mrs Brown & sons, etc. use heavy make up to emphasize your look. It’s good fun, be in it!

Note: overheating caution, 1¼ hours at a walking pace!

Call john for more info.

22nd June 2013
