Superkhana Report

30 plus cars arrived, some ran, others just turned up. The same old people helped to set up, thanks to those people. It was warm, but overcast.

To start we had the slalom. A lot of clean runs, some not so clean. I managed to do a figure eight at the turn around point, but still scored a time. Next was the double garage, which some people like, but others say its too hard on the car. We had some close calls. People backing out the wrong way, but no collisions.

Driver pick-up was the first event after lunch, for myself its my favourite, but pushing too hard can get you a bit out of shape, and you leave half your tyres on the ground. (and get called a smart ass). Navigator pick-up and still everyone pushing hard. Some too hard. "Hey John, Sue couldn't see the flags as they were a blurrrrrrr!!!!" All in all, a fun day had by all, plenty of Mustang vs Corvette rivalry. One Mustang we thought would roll over, but didn't and she won best Lady on the day.

During the events one of the ladies was getting help from Hubby. He was finding reverse for her, thinking they wouldn't be caught, but the camera never lies. I hope the members from Cairns had a laugh at some of our antics.

Congratulations goes to Peter Morgan on his outright win. It just goes to show consistency and patients pays off. The Willowbank Track suits both early and late models, so don’t think your car won't turn that tight. You could turn a truck around there.

Thanks again to everyone who gave their time to help, and hope to see you all at the next event.

CRAZY CRAIG.

Gymkhana Safety

Due to some concerns from some members at the last gymkhana, the committee has decided that a few changes should be made to ensure the safety and well being of all who attend these events, for both competitors and organisers.

The following changes will need to be implemented:
Only those persons wearing closed in shoes will be allowed to access the competition area, either as a competitor or organiser.
The age limit of navigators and flag marshals is to be 16 years or over.
For driver and navigator events, driver or navigator must not leave vehicle to retrieve a flag either from the top of a witches hat or from the ground if a flags misses the bucket.
In the navigator pick up event, the navigator must be seated on the car’s seat at all times (cushions are allowable). Those found leaving the seat or kneeling will be disqualified.

We as a club are endeavouring to make the event as safe as possible without comprising the enjoyment of the participants. Members are asked to implement these adjustments without complaint as the only other solution is to replace the navigator pick up with another event.
