The 35th Annual Hot Rod & Street Machine spectacular has
been and gone again and the Queensland Corvette Club certainly
made its mark with the display theme focussing on the 50th Anniversary
of Corvettes with a range of display vehicles to match.
Our stand was a very professional display and could not have
been in a better location, adjacent to the main entry/ exit. Don't
know how you did it Brad but good work and the new 50th Anniversary
club shirts set the scene! The quality and presentation of cars
was exceptional and a credit to their owners.
Cars displayed included: Billy Dixon's '62 Convertible, Kevin
& Denise Silks '64 Coupe, Col Wolf's '64 Convertible, Sheldon
Harland '72 Coupe, Paul Dales '71 Convertible, Brett & Lexie
Hookers '90 ZRI, Brad & Sandy's '89 Convertible, Dave &
Barbara Kelly's '00 Coupe, Tony & Jenny Lowe's immaculate
'98 Pace Car. Sharing the limelight was Danielle Werner's little
red '57. Thank you all for sharing your cars.
Congratulations to Paul Dale who took 3rd place for Best Convertible.
Rick & Julia Werner entered their '65 Coupe and Danielle's
Hot Rod individually with an excellent display and managed to
win a 2nd place for Rick and 1st Junior Hot Rod for Danielle.
Well done and congratulations.
Tim McCarthy with his 98 took 1st for best Convertible, on the
Down Under Stand.
Organising and coordinating one of these events is time consuming
and credit goes to Brad & Sandy. Thanks to Keith Harper for
his expert input on the lighting and help in setting up the display.
While suffering a back problem Keith even made time to help other
exhibitors with electrical work to make sure the event got off
to a smooth start.
Brad & Sandy with great assistance from Rob Warner went the
extra mile every day putting in long hours making sure that the
member's cars and interests were looked after, answering questions
and enjoying the company.
The assistance of the members volunteering for setting up, manning
and dismantling the stand was great and contributed to the atmosphere
and success of the club display. To those people involved many
thanks for your time, your interest and your contribution because
without it, it would have been just another show. To those who
could not make it, maybe next time you will be lucky.
A number of people I know outside the club have said that this
year's show was one of the best for the overall quality of vehicles
and professional displays reflecting the time and effort made
by all the entrants.
Thanks everyone
