CORVETTES AT FOX

This the premier show of the year for the NSW Corvette club, held at Fox Studios in Sydney, and by all accounts it was going to be the biggest display of Corvettes yet seen in Australia. With this in mind, a small convoy of Queenslanders made up of members from both Brisbane clubs headed off on Friday afternoon – destination Sydney! After stopping overnight we arrived in Gosford on Sydney and our final destination – Fox Studios. Gary, the NSW President was at the gate and directed us to our positions, we were just about the last to arrive so the grounds were already packed with Corvettes, a final total of over 130 Vettes. Unfortunately just after we arrived and gave the cars a final wipe over, it decided to rain, but luckily this didn’t last too long before the sun came out again. The Corvettes on display ranged from a 1964 C1 to late model C5’s, with a good range of each of the five eras. Every car on display was highly presented and the judges must have had a very difficult time making the final decisions as to the winners. To keep the drivers occupied during the day there were markets, shops, restaurants and coffee shops to visit in the Fox Studio grounds. The Trophy presentation finally got under way around the 4.00pm mark after a few delays with a large range of trophies going to well deserving Vette owners. The NSW Club is to be congratulated on holding a very good event with very few hiccups, and as everyone who has served on a club committee knows there is a hell of a lot of organisation that goes into a event like this, so it’s very gratifying to see it come together on the day.

Well, show over, we Queenslanders started on our long drive back to Brisbane, arriving back on Monday afternoon, a long drive, but at least we brought back a few trophies and we had been part of the largest display yet of Corvettes in Australia, so it made it all worthwhile.
