| Barefoot Bowls Day - 18 November 2007
The weekend did not look promising with the Saturday being cool and wet. Wake up Sunday and blue skies. A small but enthusiastic mob met at Goodna. It was a quick short drive up the highway to the club. We consumed a Big Breakfast and met the members from the Veterans Car Club. After a long breakfast we all spilled out onto the green where we were separated into two groups. Then the fun began. We received a few tips on how to play and away we went. Luckily, we had Peter Mellor, who had plenty of experience and more than a few pointers to help us along. A few played really well and the rest. Well? Lorna got out and played very well, bad back and all. From the other team we could see who seemed to be the better player. Could it possibly be John Webro? Doing a victory dance with his shirt over his head gave it away. A very loud and competitive game was had by all. Everyone was a winner. From all the feedback the day was a success and everyone wants another try. The game does get to you. I will have another day in the new year when there are not too many other things on, probably in March. Thanks Bob, Lorna, John, Sue, Peter, Mike, Glenys, Barry, Julie, Nev, Bill, Dulcie and the Ipswich Veterans Car Club. Commentary by Allen Wren commentary with photos by Mike Gocs. |
