Camp Quality Christmas Break Up
- Bribie Island - 25th November 2007
Members of the Queensland Corvette Club wish to thank Camp Quality for
inviting our club to their 2007, Christmas Break Up celebrations on Bribie Island.
It is a real privilege to play a part in this special day and share time
with a group of marvellous children and their very special families.
Eight Corvettes set out from Clive Peeters, Loganholme at 7:30, bound for the BP
roadhouse at Burpengary to pick-up our north side members. We were met by
another seven vettes, and after a quick coffee, were off in convoy to Bribie
Island. Nev took the convoy on a tour of the proposed joy ride loop on the
island before parking ready for the children. Fortunately, our watery
boundaries reduced the distance travelled should one become disorientated by
these new surroundings. I noticed, during my circuits, that Corvettes
would appear from all directions but no-one got lost!!!
Fifteen Corvettes drove children around the island circuit for a good 3~4 hours,
with some drivers even having to take-on additional fuel to cover the miles.
It was a beautiful sunny day with a light south easterly breeze, perfect for the
convertibles and targa tops.
Thanks to Sue and Sally for baking beautiful cakes for our morning tea.
Thanks to the ladies who helped the children in and out of the cars and who
ensured a smooth and safe flow of traffic in a very congested street. The
SES volunteers did a great job stopping traffic all day so we could leave the
set down area safely and the Ulysses' Motorcycle Club members were a great group
to share the day with. Special thanks to the Bribie Island Police Service
for providing helpful officers who ensured that everyone remained safe during
the event.
Special thanks to our Vice President & Events Co-ordinator, Nev Solomon for
organising one of the most memorable and enjoyable Corvette runs that I've ever
been part of. Well done Nev!
