Peter and Ally Turner’s run to the BELVEDERE STEAK AND CRABHOUSE SATURDAY 15th MARCH 2008
Steak, seafood and trivia, what a great combination it turned out to be. Thirty of us made the journey up to Woody Point at Redcliffe after leaving the Hyperdome at 4:30 then meeting others at the Nudgee roadhouse and arriving at our destination just after 5:30. Everyone was given their first page of trivia, "The What" questions to answer in transit then as the night progressed out came the "When" and "Where" questions. It was amazing how much we learnt after correcting the questionnaires, things like the Queensland Corvette Club's slogan, "Go the Fords", "The club that sleeps together stays together" or one that Kev had that we can’t repeat. What about the name of one of the Corvette's chief engineers, Bob Mihill, was one answer or which model do you like best, naturally Pamela Anderson got a mention, lucky I didn't ask for drawings or sketches! A few more beers and after all swapping our pages around for correction the results were finalised. The 3 pages totalled 45 questions, Kev and Denise 3rd with 33 right won a Corvette model, Dave and Barb 2nd with 34 won a Corvette travel mug and stubby holder and with a total of 37 correct in first place was Keith and Jan winning a Corvette Disk and Calliper alarm clock. The booby prize of a box of Corvette cookies went to Neil and his evening partner with "NO Corvette knowledge Rob." The odd brown paper bag had to be handed out as well titled the "Bag of BS" it was awarded to a select few members for B.S. contributions not just Brad Stumer as the bag had his initials on it! Everyone had a great meal, the service was better than excellent and the game turned out to be a lot of fun. Some of us late nighter's had coffee back at Nudgee later, out came more stories and of course the odd joke. We missed some of our regular dinner participants as they were off to represent us in Adelaide, but we ate and drank as much as we could for them. The Saturday night also worked well for a change, so did the early start, and as usual, we all look forward to our next dining experience, Pete & Ali Driving a corvette is a reward not a chore!!!!! |
