The Searchers - Saturday 16 February 2008 - Twin Towns

To all the baby boomers who grew up to the sounds of The Beach Boys, Hollies, Shadows etc. you would remember the sounds of The Searchers.  A few people couldn’t remember their hits but when the band kicked off, all the words came back.  Sue and I had seen them a few years ago and they were fantastic.  The “boys” now age from 54 to 64 and their voices and harmony's are still as they were in the ‘60’s.  We had 24 members watching, singing, waving and up on their feet as The Searchers belted out their unique sound.  With hits like “Sweets for my Sweet”, “Needles and Pins”, and “Every time you walk in the room” and others from Gerry and the Pacemakers and the Big O it was hard to control the goose bumps.

It was a full house at Twin Towns, 99% old farts and quite a few youngsters bopping along.  I say “bring back the bands how they used to be” “Eh Bro”.  If the Searchers are back next year, I’m in.  The cruise ended up at Twin Towns where reserved parking had been arranged.

A meal at the Bistro went down well prior to the show.  Afterwards we cruised to Maccas at Helensvale for coffee and cake.

A top night and a top show and a first class Club event from your resident entrepreneurs, The Webro’s.
