Sabbath Blatt to Cabarita - Sunday 18th January 2009 |
The weather forecast could not have been any more wrong for our first outing of
the new year. Hope the folks at the bureau of metrology are not expecting
a bonus this year.....
The Sunday Sabbath brought us beautiful blue skies and cool breezes for an excellent day at the beach. John and Sue organised a great inaugural run for 09, and what could be more Queensland, than a perfect sunny day? The crew convoyed to Cabarita and were permitted to park on the grass in-front of the Cabarita Hotel. For those of us who've not visited this part of the Northern Rivers District for a while, the old pub sure has changed.
Gone is the old beach bar, replaced by a concrete and glass development of beautiful holiday units and a modern family oriented hotel. The magic of Cabarita Beach remains unchanged - what a great spot!
Fifteen Corvettes made the run and I've no doubt that everyone enjoyed a fun and relaxing day. God Bless the Queensland Government for building the Tugan Bypass - gets my vote for best dollar-for-dollar road works on the planet!!!!
The crew staged an informal vette display to the delight of visitors and holiday makers and took advantage of a great menu at the Cabarita Beach Shack - part of the Hotel. Good to see everyone keeping-up their fluid levels - can't be too careful on these sunny days.
Another top social day out, thanks to everyone who was able to take part and to our organisers, John & Sue, well done.
Many thanks to Mike for these great photos and for talking his way into one of the neighbouring units for a couple of birds-eye shots and to Ernie for his great pics.
