2009, Cleveland Auto Spectacular Everyone who was unable to attend this extraordinary Car Show missed one of the biggest and the best classic car events on the Queensland calendar. The organisers are to be whole-heartedly congratulated for introducing a number of significant changes to this year's show and making everything work beautifully. A very disappointing turn-out from our club with only four members starting from the meeting point to take part in the day. A little more support from members for organised club activities would have made this excellent day even better. I especially encourage new members to participate in club activities as a means of building friendships and camaraderie that can only serve to make our club stronger and more enjoyable for everyone. I look forward to learning just how many cars were entered on the day as this was the biggest turnout I've ever seen at any car show!! The quality and variety of vehicles displayed is an outstanding testament to the dedication of a diverse group of automotive enthusiasts that came together to celebrate their passion. This was also the largest swap meet I've ever seen. I arrived at 7:30 to be met by a steady stream of bargain hunters already carrying all manner of automotive treasures back to their cars and this didn't stop all day. The event was also supported by a large number of trade and memorabilia retailers with many hard to get items available throughout the day. Special thanks to our trip leader Mike and to the members that were rewarded with an excellent day and a big Well Done to the Buick & Monaro Clubs for hosting another very successful show. Congratulations to Ray Doyle - Winner of the Sports Car Category with his magic 1990 C4 |
