![]() Sunday 31st May 2009 - Thumm Estate Winery - Gold Coast Hinterland Flooding rains forced the postponement of our much awaited President's Observation Run and our club events co-ordinator did us proud by organising a very popular short notice crowd pleaser in it's place. We had planned to visit the picturesque mountain township of Springbrook but rain the previous week forced Main Roads to close access to the mountain while road repairs were made. How ironic that flooding rains changed our plans but Sunday was truly a picture perfect Queensland Autumn day!! Around twenty members enjoyed a wonderfully relaxing day at this little known barrel of paradise - If you've not visited this local winery, I would encourage a trip at your earliest opportunity. The Thumm Estate Winery is a great place to bring visitors / friends for a relaxing snack or delicious meal, while surrounded by beautiful countryside and tempted with great local wines. Everyone loved the tour, tasting, more tasting, lunch, relaxing live music, a little more tasting, friendly service and a careful trip home. A top day at a really lovely venue. Special thanks to Pete & Alison for organising this day at short notice - well done. Thanks also to Ernie for the great photos, and to Bob & Lorna - we look forward to the challenge of your observation run later in the year. Jaimes |
