Queensland Corvette Club Sunday 12th December A big QCC thank you to the Millers, Whittles, Turners, Moss', Stumers and the kid who lives next door to Glenn & Jayne - well done team. You guys are the backbone of our club and again came up with an ace after being dealt a last minute deluge. Unfortunately, Mother Nature decided this weekend would be a good time to bring flooding rains to much of South East Queensland and we needed a last minute all weather venue - and fast. Once again, we've proven that it's not what you know, but who, and Glenn was able to pull a few strings and secure a former service station / cafe site at Waterford that offered everything a Club Christmas Party could need. Power, water, loads of parking, clean toilets and lots of great dry undercover space. The cleaning team moved in Saturday with water blasters and spray 'n' wipe to bring the site up to par, followed by the decorators who made the whole place very Christmassy. We welcomed around 70 members and their kids to a great day of beautiful food and relaxing conversation. Nev prepared a delicious banquet of spit roasts and salads, followed by an amazing array of sticky sweets (all low fat I'm told). The kids enjoyed playing basketball, table tennis and flying around on the jumping castle while the adults sipped Christmas refreshments and socialised. Between lunch courses, Santa arrived in his bright red Vette with gifts for the children, big and small. Everyone enjoyed a great party and most left vowing to loose a kilo or two before Christmas. Thank you to all of the members who were able to make it in-spite of the last minute venue change with a special thank you to club member Nev, and Swagman's Spit Roast and to the hard working members who turned the ugly duckling into a beautiful party venue. |
