  Tait's Day BBQ - Sunday 31st October 2010

Tait's Day 2, The Re-Match !!!!

About 40 of us took the challenge to both eat, drink and be merry as well as compete in the many serious track and field events organised for this years "Maudsland Cup."  The pre lunch drinks helps to sort out the men from the boys and Ern and I decided to start with a Rum.  Dave had already placed himself in the tennis final by filling in the whiteboard scores whilst Mossy was trying to pick a competitive partner.  But first, lunch, what a spread, the Tait's along with the ladies had organised a huge luncheon with the proceeds going to the club as a fundraiser.  BBQ, salads, sweets and I think most of Ali's kids deserts went to Barb!!!  Ern and myself thought we would play better tennis if we consumed some Rum first, that was a great idea......

After the kids had their tennis match the main event commenced and rather than change the whiteboard we let Dave with ring in partner Adam from the Tait's camp win.  The putt putt was underway, the swimming carnival was in progress and Ern and myself decided it was time to try some Rum.

Bay 13 was getting a bit noisy led by Kay Hosking and Jayne Miller and when the drinks trolley came around Ern and myself thought we would test the Rum.

More food and then the stories started about how good I was, and how good I usually am, and how my war injury is playing up etc. etc.

This event just seems to get bigger and bigger, what with tents put up, tables and chairs everywhere, over 40 people knocking on the Tait's gate first thing in the morning to be a part of this annual event (I did say annual John) and best of all great food, company with families and the odd Corvette lying around.

I was telling Ernie how much Ali, Maddi and Jack had enjoyed the day, so we had a rum to celebrate.

Thanks John and Jan for once again putting your property up for ransom, thanks to all the other members who supplied food and services on the day and the $300 raised for the club will be very well spent,

                                cheers Peter Turner
