| President's
Report (May 2003)
We
had 46 members and 2 visitors / potential members attend the May
Meeting. This meeting was a little more challenging than usual,
the Committee apologises for the Budget Review (this was incorrect)
in April’s Vetteletter, and will be rectified in this months
Treasures report. By the end all was resolved, allowing us to get
back to normal proceedings. Lucky these types of meetings come only
once in a Blue Moon.
Due
to the cost of postage and printing, it was voted on that Membership
be raised to $50. Renewal and $5 worth of Raffle tickets are included
with your Vetteletter and prompt payment would be appreciated. Raffle:
1st prize 50th Anniversary Monopoly Game, 2nd prize 50th Anniversary
Jig Saw Puzzle. (Drawn August Meeting) This is to raise funds to
help cover our rising Liability Insurance costs. REMEMBER IF YOU
PAY PRIOR TO 8PM AT THE MEETING ON THE 2ND JULY YOU WILL BE ELIGIBLE
TO WIN A MENS C4 WATCH.
As discussed and voted on at the May meeting we will be running
our Annual Concourse and Gymkhana on different weekends as off track
Official Lexmark Indy 300 Support Events. Proposed date for the
Gymkhana & Show N Shine being Sunday 5th October at Anzac Park
opposite Australia Fair in Southport with the Concourse (Indy Vette
Fest) being held at Parklands in conjunction with Raceline Promotions
on Sunday 19th October. All relevant applications have been sent
to the Gold Coast Motor Events Co. for approval. Also I am negotiating
with Dave Lammin the events co-ordinator for Lexmark Indy 300 in
parading our Corvettes in an Official On Track Event with the V8
Supercar and Indy drivers on both days over the Indy weekend. As
things progress in the following months you will receive more information.
KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR THIS!! These are going to be huge events, we
will need to put a Committee together, so TO BE INVOLVED GET INVOLVED.
Whoever
turned up to see the Hot Rod Show would have seen our great display
of 9 Vettes C1 – C5 in the Main building. It was a very busy
weekend and without the help of Club Members it would not have been
as successful. I personally would like to thank all those that took
part and helped in any way.
The
interest in the 16th National Convention CORVETTES ROAR EASTER
2004 in Melbourne has been great. There have been some members
enquiring about transporting vehicles for the convention, so please
let me know if you are interested so I can workout car numbers
and costs, as time will fly and the convention will be on top
of us before we know it. Remember if you book early (by 1st July
2003) you will be in the draw to win your free entry and accommodation.
Till next month
Drive your Dream
