President's
Report (October 2003)
October
has been a very busy month with our three huge Indy events. Firstly
the gymkhana had twenty two entrants, and as usual proved to be
a competitive and enjoyable day, with a reasonable crowd of onlookers.
Then we held our annual concourse in conjunction with Raceline
Promotions at Parklands Showground. There were sixty cars on display,
unfortunately due to bad weather numbers were lower than expected.
Everyone I talked too seemed to enjoy themselves, and thought
this was a great venue.
Last
of all but not least was our Parade Laps. We had fifty Vettes
organised for the track both days, however, due to Indy changing
the numbers we were only allowed 36 Vettes on Saturday and 24
on Sunday. But, wow, what a weekend. Everyone got a buzz driving
around the track. I wish to thank everyone who understood the
hard decisions I had to make in reducing the numbers to suit the
Indy Corporation.
I
would like to thank the Club’s Committee members for their
efforts to insure that these events would be a success, and also
thank you to all Club members who assisted by either helping with
the planning or running of these shows. Also, I would like to
thank the entrants, without whom, the shows would not go on, and
our Sponsors for their great support.
It
gave me great pleasure to present the President’s Trophy
for this year to long time club members, Doug & Julie Carter,
for their help and assistance, and their many years on the Committee.
Our
AGM will be held after our regular Club Meeting on Wednesday November
5th at East’s Leagues Club. All Committee positions are
open for nominations. This is your opportunity to think about
who you would like to be on the Committee for 2004. So please
take the time to complete a nomination form included in your Vetteletter
this month, these forms need to be received by post or handed
to the Secretary by 8.00 pm Wednesday the 5th November. If there
are no nominations received for a position, nominations will then
be called from the floor on the night.
I
am happy to continue as President if nominated, but I do need
a strong and dedicated Committee to ensure the Club will continue
to grow from strength to strength. So please attend the AGM whether
you have a little or a lot to offer, as this is a great Club to
be part of. Its continued growth and success is the responsibility
of its enthusiastic members and new committee.
Xmas
with the Tigers is almost booked out, with only a couple of spots
left if you are planning on going then let Sandy know now. This
should be a great night with about 60 members. Don’t forget
our Run and Xmas break up at Col’s on Sunday the 7th of
December.
The
Club has had a very exciting and busy year; I would like to take
this time to thank the Committee for their support and assistance
throughout the year.
Till
next month
Drive your Dream
