President's Report (September 2003)

Thanks Greg for chairing the September Club Meeting, Sandy and I were thinking of you all, while we were sitting on the Victoria Bridge having dinner and a few drinks.

October is going to be a huge month for Corvettes in Queensland: October 5th Indy Vette Sprints / Gymkhana - Show N Shine; October 19th Indy Vette Fest / Concourse - Show N Shine; October 25th & 26th Indy Parade Laps to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Corvettes. There will be 36 Corvettes on the Indy track for the V8 Super car drivers and 22 Corvettes for the Champ car drivers parade laps. We have two media passes and will be taking photos on the track, for VETTE magazine.

There has been a lot of work in organising these events, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank my Indy Committee and our sponsors for their help towards making the Indy Vette Fest a grand event. It is now up to all Club Members, Corvette owners and enthusiasts to support the Club, and attend these events where they can.

IMPORTANT: Your entrance pass for two adults to our Concourse and the Street Torque Xtreme Motor Show will be attached to this Vetteletter. Don’t leave your pass at home, as it will be needed for your entry either as a spectator and/or a concourse entrant. All non Club pre-entrants will receive their pass in the mail before the show.

Pre-entries have been flowing in steadily. Remember, if you pre-enter with payment of $20 prior to Thursday 2nd October you will be in the draw for the 50th Anniversary Desk Clock. Also this helps minimise our work load on the day. Come on Saturday 18th also, for a DYNO / SHOW N SHINE / BBQ LUNCH plus several Trophies to be won. MAKE A WEEKEND OF IT.

Our AGM is fast approaching, and will be held after our regular monthly Club meeting on November 5th at Easts Leagues Club. All committee positions are open for nominations. This is your opportunity to have a think about who you would like to be on the Committee for 2004. So please take the time to complete a nomination form. These forms need to be received by post, or handed to the Secretary before 8 p.m. Wednesday 5th November, in time for the meeting. If there are no nominations received by the Secretary before 8.00 p.m. for a position, nominations will then be called from the floor on the night. Only financial members are entitled to nominate and vote.

Don’t forget we still need bookings and payments for Xmas with the Tigers. I hope to see most of you during the very busy month of October, and please check out our coming events and support your club by participating. For those members who don’t usually attend, come along and you will have a great time with other Corvette enthusiasts.

By the time you get this magazine, Sandy and I we will be back from our run to Fox Studios. Also in attendance from QCC were Rob Warner, John and Sue Webro and Brian and Ann Wilkinson. We will have a write up and photos next month.

We have a representative from Shannons Insurance attending the October meeting as our Guest Speaker.
