President's
Report (February 2004)
I
hope everyone has got their Vetteletter in time, due to my work
load I have sent my reports to the Editor at the last moment;
also we have been waiting for a new advertisement from AC Delco
to go in our new magazine cover.
The
February meeting had around 35 members attending, with discussions
on the up coming runs, National Convention & our special resolution
to change our financial year.
Our
annual concourse was also mentioned in great detail, with a few
new ideas placed by members, with voting unanimously to hold it
again with Ian from Raceline Promotions at Parklands, this is
not set in concrete and anyone with any ideas who wants to put
them in place by all means let the committee know.
This
year is moving fast and before we know it Easter will be upon
us, and so will the 16th National Corvette Convention in Melbourne.
I hope by now all who are attending to travel to this fantastic
event have nominated and sent their entries and deposits. Transport
has been organised for 8 members and if you are anticipating using
transportation please notify me ASAP. At this stage we have 14
entrants from our club, with Darren notifying us that he now has
a total of 127 entrants.
Another
big event is the Hot Rod Show – May long Weekend, again
we will be taking part as a Club entry, at our last meeting we
came up with a theme of having nine Modified Vettes on display.
We have a few members that have put their hand up at our meeting
to help, but I still would like someone to co-ordinate the whole
weekend. We will be setting up a roster of volunteers to help
on the stand, and all assistance is welcome, it is great fun and
an opportunity to meet other enthusiasts and talk to the public
about the club and our Vettes. The Hot Rod Show generates a lot
of income for the club, so we need you to take part.
Back
to months flying by !!! the committee is looking for ideas for
our Christmas Party, please put your thinking caps on as we will
need to organise something soon.
Our
club events have been coming thick & fast, and we have been
on some great outings and also have some great ones coming up.
Thank you to everyone who has organised runs, and please keep
sending your run ideas and proposals to Rob Warner so we can work
them into the events schedule.
The
Camp Quality International Childhood Cancer Day was a little quieter
than expected, but still very successful. I was a little disappointed
on the poor showing of members not giving a little of their time
on such an important day. This was to make a kid’s day memorable.
I
would like to thank Dave Tyson, Rob Warner, Con Milos, Doug Stilgoe,
Gary Starr, Ray Doyle, Tony Golles, John & Sue Webro, Owe
Hansson & Carly for giving up their day to support Camp Quality.
I
would again like to thank Owe & Carly for helping out 4KQ
on the Australia Day Parade.
Till next month
Drive your Dream
