President's Report (July 2004)

Our first meeting at Southern Cross Sports Club was attended by 33 members, which wasn’t bad considering it was the 3rd State of Origin night.

Quite a few members had dinner and were impressed with the quality and cost. This club is smaller than Easts but has a much friendlier atmosphere and more personal, so come along to the next meeting and check it out for yourself.

Membership renewals were due the 1st July with many having paid to date, I would like to welcome you all back, and hope you have another great year with our Club’s activities. Congratulations to Martyn Ward who won the desk clock for his early renewal. DON’T FORGET the major raffle will be drawn at the August meeting for those who have bought raffle tickets with their membership renewal.

With the change to our financial year our AGM will now be held after the regular club meeting on Wednesday 1st September at Southern Cross Sports Club. All committee positions are open for nominations, so take the time and
think about who you would like to see on the committee for 2005. Nomination forms will be included in next months Vetteletter. If there are no nominations received for a position, nominations will then be called for from the floor on the night.

The recent Corvettes Down Under “Corvette Classic” held at Southbank was a great day and had 98 Vettes on show to the public; the Trophies on display were excellent, with our club members winning a number of them.

Thanks go to George Gilby and his team of workers for their hospitality and inviting all Corvette enthusiasts to this event. I would also like to thank Tom for the words in his editorial “The best thing that has happened over this period is that the two Brisbane based Corvette Clubs have managed to resolve most of their differences and are now on a far more friendly and social level, which is the way it should be and I hope never reverts to the previous situation.”

I am sure that the majority of members from both Clubs’ feel the same way. Hopefully we can keep this up and support the Corvette enthusiasts and their Vettes.

NSW Corvettes Unlimited is running Corvettes at Fox Studios on the 12th September 2004. We went down last year and it was a great show with about 150 Vettes, if anyone wants to go this year please let me know and I will arrange an entry form for you.

See you on a run soon, support your club and the members that take the time to organise these runs.

Till next month,
Drive your Dream

Brad
