President's
Report (June 2004)
Another
month’s passed us again; it just feels like I wrote my last
president’s report yesterday. I find the hardest part of
my position is putting things in writing for these monthly reports.
Anyway I am going to make this one short and sweet.
Firstly the important topic of discussion at the last meeting
was moving our meetings to another venue due to East’s exorbitant
price increase. Voting was unanimous to hold our monthly meetings
at Southern Cross Sports Club Upper Mt Gravatt. SO DON’T
FORGET MEETINGS ARE STILL THE FIRST WEDNESDAY OF THE MONTH BUT
THEY WILL NOW BE HELD AT SOURTHERN CROSS SPORTS CLUB.
Thanks to Rob’s organisation our months have been full of
things to do. If you can’t find a run that suits you let
us know as all new ideas are welcome. I’d like to thank
Steve McDonald, Jim & Karen Anderson for their time helping
me with the Beenleigh Sugar Cane Festival Parade; we had 3 white
Corvette Convertibles transporting the passed Charity Queens through
the streets of Beenleigh. Last months Friday night run at Cisco’s
was enjoyed by 24 members, thanks for coming along and we will
see how this month goes at Llana’s Famous Garage & Rock
N Roll
Café at Waterford. Our future 3rd Friday Nights Runs we
will be travelling to Booval Shopping Centre where the Hot
Rods have moved to from Harties. Wintersun Festival was well attended
with 15 Vettes on display, this was a great weekend if you missed
it you should make a point of going next year.
Indy Fever ’04 - We have been asked again to participate
as an official off track support, with applications already submitted
for our Indy Vette Fest / Concourse - Show N Shine to held on
Sunday the 3rd October at Parklands in conjunction with Street
Torque Xtreme Motor Show, and our Indy Vette Sprints / Gymkhana
inviting the other American Muscle Cars to compete on Sunday the
17th October at Anzac Park (Broadwater carpark).
Renewals are now due: So please assist the Club by checking your
renewal notice and making sure all the details
are correct, how about including a current photo of your car so
the files can be updated, please enclose your payment and return
it to the club by the 7th July and you will have the chance to
win a 50th Anniversary Desk Clock.
There are some exciting runs and social events coming up so check
your calendar and let the trip leaders know if you can make it,
again if you have any ideas of your own please let our Events
Till next month,
Drive your Dream
