President's Report (March 2004)

Apologies for the lateness of the last Vetteletter, we did post it at the last moment but it seems that Australia Post
was a bit slow; all our interstate mail was received within the next day or two, with all local taking approximately a week. Now with our new cover finalised and the committee getting their reports to the editor on time everyone will receive their Vetteletter by the end of each month.

Having lived in Queensland for all my life I have to admit it seems to have been one of the Hottest and Humid summers I’ve experienced. A few of our runs have been extremely hot, but I guess we should not complain as at least we can drive our Corvettes all year round. Not like a lot of our overseas clubs who have to put their cars in storage for the winter months.

We met up with 30 members from the Vegas Vettes, at the Gold Coast Hot Rod Club. It was a great evening with over 30 Corvettes showing up, we did our monthly Saturday night cruise on the coast taking many of the visitors to show them the sites. It was their first day in Brisbane with them all having a HOOT of a time. A run we are doing next month for the first time will be the David Hack Classic Car & War Birds meet at Toowoomba Airport on Sunday 18th April, so please give us your support and come along and enjoy the day and see some other classic cars and planes while showing our Corvettes. Also coming up is Xmas in July, being a fantastic weekend away. Our previous Xmas in July runs has proven to be very popular and this one sounds like the best one yet. See our events page for more information.

There are only a couple of weeks left till, the 16th National Corvette Convention; we have over 40 Queenslanders heading to Melbourne to enjoy this event over the Easter break, at last reports they have 203 entrants. This is going to be a HUGE and EXCITING event and I can only wish Darren Pelacchi and Committee all the best for the weekend. Do not forget the April meeting will be held on Wednesday 14th of April at Easts Leagues Club Coorparoo. Due to the large number of committee members being away at the Convention.

Planning for the Club’s display at this years Hot Rod Show (Labour day long weekend) is well under way and some people have already put their hands up to help, set up, man the stand and pull down, but a few more are still needed. Set up will be late afternoon on Thursday 29th April with the show running Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Monday, pull down Monday evening after 7.30pm. Come along and support your club’s display by helping man the stand for a short time, dropping in for a chat or just generally cruising around the Hot Rod Show for a while. We are organising free entry for as many helpers as possible.

Please contact Brad if you can help in any way.
Hope everyone has a safe and happy
Easter.

Till next month
Drive your Dream
