President's Report (August 2006)

Hi to all Members, as you all know its that time again to elect a new club committee, at our annual AGM meeting coming up next month. If anyone wishes to throw their hat into the ring as an office bearer and pre nominate please contact Barb Kelly or myself so we know before the night if possible.

We have, at our last committee meeting decided to have a smaller committee so as to be more compliant with the obligations of the associations act that govern our club ,and as such are going to have six only people as the designated executive committee.

These positions are as follows, President, Vice President& Events Coordinator, Treasurer, Secretary, Editor, and Safety & Equipment officer.

The outgoing committee recognises that there is great effort and commitment from those who lead such activities as merchandise, membership, funding ,website, magazine distribution and tech advice, however we have decided to recommend that these roles be delegated as the role is required. This way everybody can be more involved and have more input into the
different events as they occur.

You may not realise it but this is what has been happening for the past 12 months, and we have found it to work very effectively. For example the hot rod show, and the Friday night dinner runs which have be successfully run by several different club members. Rob Warner is one member who has run our Saturday night run to the coast every month without fail, this has been a great credit to him and we thank him for it, but maybe he would like a break. Perhaps someone else would like to share it with him.

This is how we foresee the future runs being organised.
The new committee would be responsible for running maybe six major events a year, such as the Concourse,
Christmas in July, The Noosa Classic, and hotrod show for instance.

Please read the flyer in the magazine giving details of the positions requirements, and see if you can contribute, as a good club is one where everyone not only has their say but gives of their own time to help run it.

Well enough said on that, remember to support the upcoming events, Speed On Tweed, Noosa Classic and the Fathers Day run, and of course our regular events.

By now the Concourse will be over for another year and next year we won’t be having a regular Concourse as the convention will be on, so I hope every body that went had a great time. I would also like to thank all those that helped run the day and make it a success.

Looking forward to seeing everybody at the AGM and until then
Drive carefully and enjoy your Vette,

Until then, drive safely and enjoy your 'vette.
