President's Report (October 2006)

Hi All,
Another month has whizzed by and it’s now only 10 weeks until Christmas. Your new committee is working well, however the position of Treasurer is still begging to be filled, as Tony is struggling to manage the club books and a new job and family commitments. So if anybody can help, please put your hand up, as you will be greatly appreciated and there is lots of help available if it’s required.

Please remember that submissions for the magazine are required by the earlier date of the14th of the month, if they are to get into the magazine before printing.

The Christmas breakup is coming up, so please let Brad know if you’re coming for catering purposes. While I am at it, the
Gold Coast Council have told us that if any damage is done to their park we not only will lose our deposit , but will lose it as a venue for our Convention. This would be an even greater loss, so please be very careful on the day, as we don’t need the aggravation of that little gem.

Noosa Classic was a great success and I would like to thank everyone who came and made it a great weekend. Thanks to the Weitenbergs for marshalling and John Tait, Ray Doyle, Mike Gocs and Barb Kelly for representing the Club with the local T.V. and radio stations- we got quite a lot of publicity for our Club and Corvettes in general.

We would like to hear from members if they agree with the Committee that we should make this an Annual event, as the
Organizers said they had the best attendance they had for some years and it is a good cruise for our Northern-based Members. Keep in mind it’s proceeds are all for charity.

Don’t forget Friday night dinners and Cruise nights, in the run up to Christmas. They are still on and we would all love to catch up before silly season sets in.

The Committee has organized for our range of Merchandise to be expanded to include a few items for the Ladies - Visors
and a fitted ladies top. A new casual Tshirt for the men is also planned. Club Polo shirts will also have their stocks renewed. This should set us up for 12 months, at least.

The Indy Vette Sprints will be over by the time this goes to Press, so I hope it’s a huge success and thank-you Brad for organizing it once again. It’s nice to share some events with other Car Clubs too. I’m sorry I couldn’t make it this year, but our son’s 21st happened to be the same week-end and I wasn’t game to leave them a free run of the house!!!!

Thanks Susie Weitenberg, for your Plant sale and raffle item at the last meeting nearly $80 was raised in total.

That’s enough from me for another month.

Take care, drive safely and enjoy your vette !!
Cheers, Ernie.
