President's Report  (April 2009)

Hi to all members and your families.

Hope you all enjoyed your Easter break (not too many Easter eggs).

All those that attended the Canberra Convention had a great time, catching up with old friends and meeting other corvette enthusiasts.   The Convention went off very well for the Canberra club, only 11 months to go until the next one.

We have an interesting month coming up in May with Friday Night Dinner on the 8th May at Scarborough organised by Keith and Kay Hosking (details of run in magazine).

President’s Observation Run on 31st May starting at McDonald’s Loganholme at 9.00am and ending up at Springbrook Mountain Manor in the hills for lunch (price range between $14 to $25,  good food promised), we are looking forward to a good turnout for this event.

Your Committee has decided to keep 12 magazines a year after looking at all the arguments and suggestions from our members.   Your Club will be doing more fund raising events this year to support this decision.

John and Jan Tait have offered their new home for a day out of fun and games using their swimming pool and tennis court plus other outdoor events.   They will organise a BBQ for all that attend at a small cost (the funds we make on the day will be kindly donated to the Club).   Thank-you John and Jan.

If any other members would like to suggest a fund raising event please come forward.

We are looking for more sponsors for our trophies for our Club Concourse in June to be held at Surfers Paradise.   We have 8 sponsors so far and we are looking for more at only $50 sponsorship per trophy.

The magazine will soon have a page just for business cards at $60 per year, any business can advertise on this page and this will help offset the magazine costs.   Your Committee is willing to listen to any suggestions that members have  to keep their Club running smoothly.

Go Drive your Dream – You’re only here once.
