President's Report
(November 2009)
Gidday,
It's coming up to the end of the year, a stressful time trying to work out what Vette parts and accessories to order from Corvette Central or Zip etc. and sneak under the tree with my name on it from Santa...
I've just read this article in one of Ali's girly magazines that said that the typical symptoms of stress are eating too much, impulse buying, and driving too fast. Are they kidding? That's my idea of a perfect day!
Speaking of perfect days, we've had plenty again recently. Our brekky run to Harrigans and the car show was a very popular event with over 30 of us attending. Ali was right, we might have to do more of these!
The Moss's leading us up the hills next week in their Vettlux for a mountain dinner is something we are looking forward too as is the 20th Anniversary Dinner we have organised at the Park Regis. Brad and Sandy in particular have spent a lot of time and effort to ensure this to be a success it deserves. Meals, accommodation, rooms, the band and of course our auction items take a great deal of thought and planning. The committee has worked together as a great team to organise both this and our Christmas party to round out the year in great style. I hope all our members attending appreciate these efforts and as we are a social club looking for fun, these functions should be the answer. Sometimes I think I understand everything, and then I regain consciousness!
It's been
great to catch up with Mike Reptik on all his
I had a great day with my daughter Ash at the launch of the 2010 Camaro and V8 drivers lunch put on by one of our great sponsors, Performax, the day before the Super GP. The 6.2 litre LS3 Camaro was the star of the show and Nick from Performax took my advice and did the first one in red. The quality of the conversion is manufacturer standard and has been done absolutely without compromise. You can see where the hundreds of thousands of dollars has been spent on new computer-aided design and plastic injection-moulding technology has led them to be pioneers in the conversion industry. I offered Ash "free to a good home" amongst the V8 drivers,( I'm a great dad), she did enjoy a top weekend with them in return.
Good to see our membership up around 100, which is families not individuals. Always new members joining up, obviously hearing about how much fun we have and how we always make them welcome !!!
Remember driving a Corvette is a reward, not a chore........Peter Turner
