President's Report
(October 2009)
Gidday,
I cant believe it's October already! Ali's started doing Christmas shopping, but not me...... I leave it to the last minute because I work better under pressure. I think Santa has the right idea, visit people only once a year, that way you have a lot more time to drive your Corvette.
"Blokes Day" back on the 19th was a great day out and the team at Harris Automotive in Archerfield were put to the test going car for car on the two hoists. All in attendance learnt many things about not only cars but eating habits, bowel problems and the many uses for a hammer and gaffa tape. James from Surf City Garage also had his work cut out polishing Ernie's bonnet after years of neglect and we thank him for his support.
It was also great to finally do Bob and Lorna's observation run, a drive for our 15 cars up the mountains whilst collecting answers to questions and a big lunch at the top as a reward is always a terrific way to spend a Sunday. For my family an extra bonus was winning the competition and if anyone wants to hire my two kids Jack and Maddi for the next one, we can come to an arrangement.
I think we should elect Ken and Marina to do the explanation write ups for coming events. They certainly have set a prescient for all to follow in their description of the dinner run they organised recently. Dibbles Dinner was definitely well organised, so much so that we all got there before them. Well done.......
We've got the catering officer Ali in charge of our Brekky run to Harrigans, Ian has organised to join in the Yankee Doodle cruise then it will be time for our 20th Anniversary Dinner at The Park Regis. We have nearly 50 members booked for the evening already so if you have not let Sally know please do.
Speaking of Sal, thanks for filling in for Brad whilst he cruises the Mediterranean, she said he does bugger all so it won't be hard to do!!!!!
Bob has organised with Tom to go up to Gympie and pick up the rest of Performax's donation in the next week, thanks for finalising that.
Apologies in the last Vetteletter from me, I stated that Perth as hosts for next years convention were offering 30% early bird registration discount when in fact it is actually $30. Typo error I call it......... I have disciplined my right hand..........
I would like to also invite all Corvette drivers whether they are club members or not to join us on our events. We all go out of our way to make new people feel welcome.
That's all that I know about is going on this month, until the next,
Remember driving a Corvette is a reward, not a chore............Peter Turner
