President's Report
(September 2009)
Gidday,
Well another month comes upon us, just as much to do and
see, always something to do I say! Great to see our new committee
working together nicely and putting some good idea's and plans in place.
We had a good day out at John and Jan Tait's, playing
tennis, different games and having a huge luncheon as well as raising $240
for the Club. Thanks to all those who supported the day and great to
see some of our kids joining in with us bigger ones in having fun.
The fund raising continued with "Blokes Day" on the 19th at
Harris Automotive Services in Archerfield, can't wait to tell you what we
found underneath some of the members vehicles. Thanks to James from
Surf City Garage for his support and Gary Harris for handing over the keys
to his workshop.
Congratulations to our 2 winning members in our big raffle,
1st Chris O'Shea, 2nd Bill Reeves, that was drawn at the September meeting,
Brad tells me they were both thrilled. Thanks again to every current member
who supported it.
Performax donated a heap of parts to
both Queensland Corvette Clubs for us to sell and so far we have
raised $700 as our half of the sales to date. More money !!!! Looks
like the Christmas party is going to be another good one!!!
We have some great items to auction already at our 20th
Celebration and if you have any ideas or items please let Brad or myself
know. Don't forget to book your room at the Park Regis if you are
staying the night and let Sally know if you are attending. Ali has
taken quiet a few orders for special shirts for the evening so if you are
wanting one contact her for details.
Next year Perth is hosting the National Corvette Convention
and are looking for members wishing to make the voyage out west to come
forward early. They are offering a 10% Discount for bookings made
before November so it may be worth following up. Sal has some entry
forms if you are needing them. Our club has donated $400 towards
the convention operating expenses as voted by our members at the last meeting.
We have also voted that the Down Under Club host the 2013
Convention and Sally has forwarded a letter of confirmation with the
suggestion that in Queensland we host the conventions alternatively between
us.
Like I say, "there's always something to do".
Remember driving a Corvette is a reward, not a
chore......Peter Turner
