President's Report
(January 2010)
G'day,
2010 is here already. Just seems like yesterday we were opening pressies and eating Xmas lunch and next minute we're back at work. I had to go back to work though because I was having an "out of money" experience.......
I must have been a good boy last year because Santa spoiled me, how did he know to get me new plates for the C3 that read "FATVET?" He obviously knows the car and must also be a big fan of the colour "red" wanted me to have the best for it !!!
I hope everyone else was as good as I was last year and got spoilt for xmas, I've heard of a few stories so far and please feel welcome to share any holiday or festive season antics with us.
The committee were busy in the holidays, Geoff and Carollee purchased their new Swagman and set of from Beenleigh for a 3 day trip down the coast to visit us at Helensvale for new years. Geoff had to relax when he got there after his first big road trip.
Ernie tells me he spent the off season working on the ZR1, carpets, exhaust heat wrap and some extra work. Sal tells us about putting screws thru wiring hey Ern!!!
Brad laid back down the coast with Sandy feeding him cherries, Keith had a house full of family and had to escape a couple of times in the boat and Mossy spent the whole time getting a C4 ready for the first outing of the new year.
Xmas is amazing, it's one of the few times in the year that you hang something in the wardrobe for the holidays and it shrinks 2 sizes......
Our first meeting of the year at Hotel HQ was enjoyed by about 45 members, lucky we have a big comfy room, and our first outing of the year was up to Montville on the 17th led by Ian Moss who didn't have a Vette to drive....mmm, what'd you say you did in the holidays Mossy?
A good turn out of 12 polished Vettes and one Mustang full of the Milos clan. The only thing slower than Ern all day was our lunch service but a great day it was touring the mountains on the north side. The Kellys and the Tigershark set a good pace all the way home and missed seeing the "yellow" C5 in the mirrors as usual. Geoff promises to be there on the next run... If anyone spots Brett and Nadine wandering the mountains we last saw them in Malaney. Terrific to have Con, our number 1 member and family join us for the day as well. Thanks Ian and Lynelle for the "Corvette Run to Montville" year opener..
Ali has the Fox and Hounds Restaurant organised for the February dinner and we have all plans in place for the "Presidents Triple Drag Weekend" at the end of the month. Ali says she will be doing a make-up service for the Saturday nite "Drag" dinner and Bryan Wharton has already booked in. Ernie has been giving his make-up a trial over the past months, Carollee will be wearing the pants, (Geoff says as usual) and I don’t know if we should let Silky wear a mankini or not ??? With Kevin and the ZR1 coming from Performax and having a party of 6 with them, maybe they will think twice about coming to another function with us looking at our dress code ideas. Anyway it's the presidents weekend so that's what you have to wear, "I said." Payments due Feb 3rd meeting for this weekend....
Got plenty happening for the year already so we're of to a good start, don’t forget the National Convention in Perth is only weeks away so it's still not too late to organise.
Check our website regularly as Jaimes does a great job of updating everything and most times the photos are on the site before it happens !!??!!
Any Merchandise you require, a hat, shirt, jacket etc. don’t forget to let Ali know and she will post it or bring to the next meeting for you.
We all look forward to another great year driving our beautiful cars and showing them off to the public, but most of all, having fun,
Cheers
