President's Report  (February 2011)

  "No More Wind or Water"

Did you know we have the biggest membership now than we have had for many years?  And why not!  We all share one common interest the Chevrolet Corvette.....  driving these magnificent vehicles, socialising, dining out and most of all having heaps of fun is why most of us are members.  You would also not be reading this great magazine and being informed on deals, events, classifieds and snapshots of your fellow club members in action if you were not a member.

2011 has started out in dramatic style with the amino gods electing to dump floods and cyclones on our state of Queensland. We have a few members who were directly hit and hope they are on their way to recovery as we don't need anymore Wind or Water.

We elected to donate to the Queensland Flood Appeal and as the Toowoomba Car Club and Drive For Life had organised an Auto Spectacular and Supercruise for a fundraiser we thought that would suit us.  Feb 20th is the date and so far I have 15 cars registered and as our donation is $100 per QCC members car, the more the merrier....

The annual Presidents Weekend is also in full swing with over 20 members signed on already, don't forget to bring your money to the March meeting!!!  Obviously quite a few members have realised they need their manners adjusted and have owned up to being naughty kids.  There are some that I thought should have signed on, maybe still will !!!

The Convention Caravan to Melbourne at Easter has also created momentum with about 15 of us leaving in convoy, can't wait to get the Vettes out on the highway in convoy all the way to Melbourne to support their convention.  Great to have Kev and Tracey from the Performax team joining us on both trips as well.  I think Kev likes the dress up themes !!!

With the Presidents Weekend away in March, and those going to the Convention in April, are we wanting Christmas in July as another weekend away or maybe an evening with the option?  Anyone have an idea let Mossy or myself know and we will discuss it at the next meeting.

As our renovations at home are coming to an end, catering officer Ali has plans underway for a Gold Coast Cruise and a BBQ back at home. We just have to let our jnr. catering kids know to see if they can do as good a job as last time and have scones ready as well....  no doubt a date will be released shortly.

Ernie and myself are also working on another poker hand, question and collection rally, another excuse to drive that magnificent vehicle called the Corvette for a day.

My advice, spend as much time in your Vette with the Club as your budget and schedule will allow, as this is one of life's rewards, and makes for a happy marriage,

                                                                               cheers Peter
