President's Report  (March 2011)

We're Just Cruisin'

Well the "cruise" season is well under way.  The Toowoomba Flood Appeal "cruise," show and shine, had 21 corvettes from our club plus two others join us.  We received terrific applause upon entering, had the local television interview us, and were elected to do a presentation on stage.  As promised we gave $100 per car and the following week the $10,000 raised on the day was handed to local families in need, which was better than going to some government fund that no-one ever see's.

22 of us have just come home from the Presidents naughty kids weekend, no doubt you will see pictures and hear stories, but it was also a great "cruise."  We don't seem to visit Toowoomba very often but, here we are, twice in two months!  From Toowoomba to Warwick and back home through Killarney to Boonah is always a great "cruise."

The biggest "cruise" many of us will ever do will be next month to the National Convention in Melbourne.  With about 20 from our club attending, and 14 of us "cruising" down in 10 cars, it looks to be a great road trip.  Kevin and Tracey from Performax will be "cruising" with us again, (don't tell him he doesn't need to dress up) and meeting up with a few in Mansfield the night before.  The plan is to arrive in Melbourne together as a club.

Ernie and myself are doing another fun "cruise" in May, collecting things, observing, answering questions, eating as well as "cruising," always a good excuse for a day out.

Camp Quality are our major charity and each year we help by donating our time and cars for their Chandon Dinner night. It is Thursday May 5th and we "cruise" their execs from dinner to their secret supper club, details contact Brad.

Nev has been in touch and wants to do another American Icons Day "cruise," so we look forward to those details.  It was a great day last time with hogs and Chevs together for the day.

June is looking "cruisey" and Ali wants to do a Gold Coast "cruise" and dinner back at the ranch.  We're just waiting for our kids to ok it as they are our junior caterers and we all love scones; and then it will be, July.

That means Christmas time, and Mossy and I are putting together a "cruise" to Gympie, visit the skid pan, Christmas dinner and buffet brekky then "cruise" back through Montville on way home.  I predict there will also be a "cruise" to Lakeside again for Independents Day in July.

That will "cruise" us right into the AGM again.  This year have a think if you can help on the committee to run this fantastic club as new blood is always most welcome.  This is an opportunity for new ideas, new skills and new enthusiasm to lead our great club from strength to strength.

Remember, "cruisin" in a Corvette is a reward, not a chore,

                                                                                      cheers Peter Turner
