President's Report  (October 2011)

Social Times"

It seems these days you can’t go a day without someone asking, “did you see what so and so’s up to….. or see that video of…?”  With YouTube growing bigger and bigger, Twits Twittering and 11 out of 10 people spending an average of 26 hours a day on Facebook, it’s great to board the Vette and get back to the real world and old time values.

Being at the forefront of the social networking scene myself, (not), I enjoy catching up with all our members face to face on runs and at organised events.

Friday night at the Ferry Road Diner is one of those “Happy Day’s” re-unions with real people and real cars doing real things including something we do well, eat and socialise.

Car shows seem to be a plenty at this time of the year also, something that has been a part of the club scene for many years.  Catching up with the latest gizmo’s in person, being able to touch and smell the goods first hand as well as talking to those responsible, beats a YouTube clip any old day.  But the most enjoyable aspect of the real world is actually being behind the wheel of your real car, feeling the power and visually seeing the expressions on peoples faces as we perhaps, “show off,” or just cant help express ourselves in the best sport scar ever made.   I love it….

We all have a chance to be a part of this real world, with an event on every weekend until the end of the year there are plenty of opportunities to join in for a face to face experience with other club members and the public, as well as being welcome to attend our Club meetings on the first Wednesday of each month.

Colmslie Park Sunday 4th December, is our Members Christmas party, and as it is being catered, numbers must be finalised by the 2nd November, Club Meeting, otherwise you will have to catch up on Facebook.  Don’t forget your kids Christmas presents for Santa too…..

Our December meeting is on the 7th, the Wednesday after, and we are also having a Friday night dinner on the 9th to wrap up the year.

And that about wraps it up for me too, I have to update my “status”,

                                                     Cheers Peter
