President's Report  (January 2011)

"2011"  Here we go again....

As we settle into2011, it can be easy to forget the well-intentioned New Years resolutions or past dreams for greater things ahead.

Life can overwhelm us as year by year we just seem to get busier and things just keep getting put on the "next year list."  With 2010 well and truly behind us, it's time to remember the anonymous encouragement, "never let yesterday's disappointments overshadow tomorrows dreams."

Very difficult for most Queenslanders after the worst January on record caused by  the recent floods.  As we all know someone that has been affected in some way it will be my recommendation that the club make a sizeable donation to the flood appeal. Thanks to Silky for contacting members in the flood area's on behalf of the Club, and letting them know that our hearts and thoughts go out to them all as well as their families and friends.

Bad enough watching it on TV let alone it happening in front of you.  I also hope you understood this was why we cancelled January's meeting and also our first FND.  Dave & Judy had their first attempt at being leaders for dinner, but the restaurant was in the flood zone, and we had to postpone.  Probably try again in March, Dave says he will rebook as they are away in the States in February.  Must be something over there attracting our members as plenty of them seem to be making the trip !!!!

I hope the rest of the year is full of positive enjoyment, enough of disasters thanks.....

Speaking of being full, Mossy's moments column is filling up rather quickly with a lot of different idea's being thrown at him.  If you have something to do, see, or somewhere to eat that you wish to share, then let him know as we are always looking for somewhere new, and something different.

I have organised this years President's "Naughty Kids" Weekend away and all the details are in the Vetteletter, so if you want to join in this years funtivities please let me know asap.........  whilst putting your name down for that, let me know if you wish to join the Convention Caravan heading to Melbourne at Easter as I also need numbers for booking arrangements for this as well.....

With 123 members now joined up there should be a lot of initiations to go through on this years runs.  I'm certain Ern and Geoff can think of something, ask Glen Miller what colour his crocs are now !!!

We have a great club full of amazing and talented people and this broadens every time a new membership form is filled out.  I have had lots of enquiry about different aspects of Corvetteing recently and have sent many e-mails to numerous relevant members, always with answers to help.

This is exactly what we are about and those enquiring are full of praise for their answers, thanks to all ( it makes me look good too......)

So don't forget if you have a special vehicle we call a "Corvette," and you are dreaming and looking for activities involving both your car and fun, then check out our web site or the magazine regularly so you are not disappointed that you missed out driving your dream.

2011 was off to a flooded start, I hope the only flooding problem I encounter next  is when I start the C3, and everyone shares less problems than that........

                       cheers Peter
