President's Report  (July 2012)

Over and Out……

As we head to the end of another club committee year, it’s time to go to the polls and vote for the upcoming front table sitters to run this great fun club into it’s 24th year.

I sit and reflect on the past four years sitting at the front, three as President and one doing events and can’t help but have a serious laugh about a lot of the events accomplished.  Sorry to those who don’t understand but introducing the dress up themes, drag, school kids, puzzles, Christmas’s etc. and all the weekend adventures have a been a highlight to all those attending, as well as drive day runs collecting information (and bandicoots) have definitely been both Ali’s and my best memories of the past few years.  Sharing everything social from our Friday night dinners, car shows, brekky runs as well as the outside club times friendships developed over these years cannot be put into words, but made possible by all having one thing in common, a Corvette………

This exercise of evaluating all these fun and good times was made so much easier by reflecting on the pictures and stories in both our Web and Vetteletter pages.  Jaimes on the web and Ernie the editor do a magnificent job that's made so much easier when participants send in stories and pictures.

Our Concourse plans are well underway for a bigger and better than ever display with over 100 cars already promised for the “Corvettes on the Coast” show, now part of the Gold Coast’s community month activities.  With the full area reserved for us we have room for trade stalls, demonstrations, both car and bike displays and all as a fundraiser for Camp Quality.  So put September 16th on your calendar, not only as a car show, but a great social event, fund raiser and as last year all entrants will receive an entrants collectable t-shirt.

Thanks very much to all the committee I have worked with in the past, as we all get along so well it has made it a lot easier.  Good luck to the new committee and all members wish them all the best in the coming year and hope the club continues in it’s current jovial way as it has for me in the past four years.

So where to from here?......  Might just sit up the back of the meetings, be disruptive and obnoxious, run a muck with some silly jokes, organise a dress up or two weekend or maybe even a bandicoot collecting run, help with the Concourse events, hey sounds like what I have been doing for the past four years……….

Same thing, different chair, cheers Peter

INTRODUCTION FROM NEW PRESIDENT CHRIS LIVERMORE

As your newly elected Club President I would like to take the opportunity to thank all members new and old for their support over the last year in my previous role as Vice President / Events coordinator. I am looking forward to working with the new committee and all of our members over the coming year. Remember this is not our club, but yours. We would appreciate all of our members support and suggestions for new events and fresh ideas over the coming year. I will work closely with all of you to continue to improve our club in the hope that we can remain one of the most enjoyable motoring clubs in South East Queensland.
I would also enjoy seeing some new faces at the club meetings and some of our social events over the coming months. remember that the same people come up with the same ideas and new people come up with new ideas, so in order for us to cater for as many of our members as possible we need to see as many of you as we can. We are mindful that all of you cannot attend all of our events and would like to tailor events to suit all budgets to give all members an opportunity to attend at least some events throughout the year.
I would also like to express my appreciation too the previous committee who performed a terrific job over the last 3 years and some of beyond this. Our club would not be where it is today had it not been for these volunteer organisers who looked after all of our members and guests. I am sure that I can say on behalf of all of our members, Thank-you for all of your effort and support during this time and we look forward to seeing you as continuing valued members of our great club.
Looking forward to a terrific new year.
Kind regards,
Chris Livermore
