President's Report  (February 2010)

G'day,

"Dreaming Big In 2010"

As we settle into the rhythm of 2010, it can be easy to forget the well-intentioned New Year's resolutions or past dreams for greater things ahead.

Life can overwhelm us as year by year we just seem to get busier and things just keep getting put on the "next year list". With 2009 well and truly behind us, it's time to remember the anonymous encouragement, ”never let yesterday's disappointments overshadow tomorrow's dreams."

So come out to Warwick, watch the club racers in action, if you got flogged last year, and then better your time this year. You may love dressing in drag?  Come on the Ernie's next observation run; see if you can beat my family’s dominance of these events.  What about the plans for the Gympie weekend?  Keith has a ripper of a weekend organised in May, Performax tour, skid pan day, maybe a dress up?  Dunno.... Catering officer, Ali has some ideas for the culinary members with the latest dining experience at the Fox and Hounds just a sample of that.  Brad's chatting with the Parklands team to use their complex for a sprints type of event as well.  With all our ideas thrown at Ian, the "Mossy’s Moments" column is filling up very quickly.

So don’t forget if you have a special vehicle we call a "Corvette", and you are dreaming and looking for activities involving your car and fun, check out our web site or the magazine regularly so you are not disappointed that you missed out living your dream.

Don’t forget that the Corvettes Down Under car club have invited us to join them in their Corvette convoy down to the NSW Corvettes "Bella Vista" Show and Shine on March 12-15th.  We have some of their members joining us at Warwick for the “Triple Drag Weekend," so it's good to share some dreams between clubs.

If any of you wish to advertise in the club's magazine we are doing a bonus for business card size adverts.  One page will be allocated for this, first in with $60 gets until financial year end 2011.  That’s a dream 16mths for the usual 12mth rate.......What are you waiting for, you should wake up for this ??

Nothing to do with Corvettes, but as Burt Munroe with the fastest Indian once said, " All my life I've wanted to do something really big," so I decided that's a great philosophy, and March 5th - 15th we are heading to the Lake Gairdner salt flats to have a crack at the 500cc motorcycle land speed record.  Dave Kelly's coming with me, meeting John and Jan Tait there, and Ross from Adelaide Corvettes is joining in as well.  I believe it's very important for us as humans to dream, have hopes, aspirations and some goals to work towards.  This would definitely, currently, fulfil most of those for me.......

Thanks to the few members going to represent Queensland Corvette Club in Perth at this year’s convention, always great to have loyal members there with or without their Vettes flying our flag.

It's understandable as the hectic pace of life consumes everything we do we can forget our dreams and goals, but I hope whilst driving around in my Vette, that when I look back at 2010,  I will be pleased with the accomplishments or at least pleased with the steps taken towards fulfilling them.

We have a great club full of amazing and talented people and I look forward to hearing what dreams you fulfil in 2010.  As my dad's best friend Walt Disney once said " All our dreams can come true if we just have the courage to pursue them."

Remember driving a Corvette is a reward, not a chore........
