2025 Corvette Nationals in Parkes
Nick and I set off for Parkes on Wednesday morning.
The day started off overcast, and as we continued, the rain began to settle in.
We travelled down the Newell Highway and made a stop in Narrabri for the night before hitting the road again on Thursday.
The weather was still wet, and the roads weren’t great, but we pushed through.¿ Parkes had some rain, but by Saturday, it cleared up just in time for the Show and Shine.
We capped off the day with a delicious roast dinner at the Golf Club, enjoyed some live music, had a few drinks, and danced the night away. Sunday was a perfect, sunny day with not a cloud in the sky.
The even-numbered entrants went to the Dish, while the odd-numbered group headed to Forbes to visit the motor museum. Then, everyone gathered at the football field for a group photo of all the Vettes. Afterward, we made our way to Rotary Park for a pizza lunch. Following lunch, the even-numbered group went to the Motor Museum, and the odd-numbered group visited the Dish. Then it was back to our motels to get ready for the bus ride to the Gala Dinner at the Services Club.
The food was fantastic, the people were wonderful, and quite a few of us Queenslanders took home trophies. All in all, it was an amazing weekend, and it was humbling to support the local community, especially after the challenges they’ve faced with the recent weather events.
We headed home early Monday morning with pleasant weather, opting for the New England Highway which took a few extra hours.
The road conditions weren’t much better than the Newell, and my low-sitting C4 Corvette had taken a beating. I’d scraped my sump a few times, and now it was leaking oil onto the exhaust.
I’ll have to inspect the damage when I get home. Nick needed to get home for work, so we decided to make the trip straight through, stopping at Warwick for a pub dinner. Fifteen and a half hours later, I pulled into my driveway at 9:30 PM.
I’m already looking forward to catching up with everyone next year at the 36th Nationals at Peppers Resort in Noosa.
